 Navigating organizational culture is a critical skill everyone needs to have in their professional toolkit. In this session, Janine T. Hackshaw, Senior Organizational Development Consultant and Executive Coach, will provide insights for navigating organizational culture and highlight how it impacts overall career advancement and leadership opportunities. As part of the conversation, she will touch on the value of authenticity in the workplace, understanding organizational norms and ‘fit’ and embracing courage to step up and create your own career narrative.

 Our programs are open to all staff of all backgrounds as we aim to attract a diverse and inclusive audience, where we all serve as a resource for one another and work in partnership to cultivate an inclusive learning community, build a diverse leadership pipeline and create a culture of belonging at Harvard.

Janine T. Hackshaw, MS, MBA is a Senior Organizational Development Consultant and Executive Coach in the Center for Workplace Development (CWD) at Harvard. With 13+ years of experience, she works with senior administrative and faculty leadership in Harvard schools and departments, conducting organizational assessments, leading organization redesign and developing intervention strategies to support team effectiveness. Janine also works with leaders and key stakeholders to design and implement large-scale change efforts and engage in strategic planning. In her most recent role prior to joining Harvard, Janine served as Director of Talent Development and Organizational Effectiveness at Accion International, leading key initiatives around employee and leadership development, working with leadership to strengthen the culture of diversity, inclusion, belonging and equity within the organization, and designing and consulting on organizational effectiveness initiatives to achieve strategic business outcomes. She also designed Accion’s internal coaching program and as part of this, coached high potential employees and transitioning leaders. Janine received her MS in Organizational Learning and Development from Suffolk University and her MBA from Morgan State University. Her BA in Communication Studies has been the foundation for much of her work and interests, which center on navigating intercultural issues and improving group dynamics. She has played instrumental roles in several group relations and leadership conferences in the Metro-DC area.

 Janine is a Co-Active trained executive coach, MBTI and PMD Pro certified, and received her certificate in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University. Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, she is fluent in Spanish and an avid world traveler and culture lover.
